After being double-crossed and left for dead, a mysterious man named Walker single-mindedly tries to retrieve the rather inconsequential sum of money that was stolen from him.

Film opowiada historię gangstera Walkera (Lee Marvin) który został oszukany przez wspólnika Mala Reese (John Vernon) przy podziale łupu. Fałszywy kumpel zostawił go umierającego, zabrał 93,000 dolców i zbiegł z jego żoną. Walker myśli tylko o zemście i o odzyskaniu pieniędzy. Działając jak precyzyjny automat, zimny i opanowany staje do walki z całą organizacją gangsterską. Powoli też zdaje sobie sprawę że jest tylko narzędziem wysoko postawionych kręgów biznesu tajemniczych korporacji.
